The 2015 Motorsports Season is on its last stretch. This year’s theme for the official Gran Turismo “after race” movie is ‘People’; the humans behind the Nürburgring 24 Hours race. Enjoy the beautiful images staged on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a massive track that is 25km per lap, and often feared as the “Green Hell”.
Round 5 of the Super GT, the 44th International Suzuka 1000km Race will be held on August 30. And Wolfgang Reip of GT academy (2012 GT Academy European Champion) will be making a spot participation as the 3rd driver for #3NDDP Racing. Everyone knows him by now as “Wolfie”. He’ll be racing against the world’s leading touring car meisters, drivers such as Jörg Müller (BMW), Christian Mamerow (Audi) and Dominik Farnbacher (Lexus). Katsumasa Chiyo, who was a mentor at the GT Academy Asia Finals, will also be participating in the GAINER TANAX GT-R.
Though the GT Academy was held again this year in various parts of the world, it may come as a surprise that this was the first time it was hosted also in Japan, where Gran Turismo was born. With a high level of attention from Japanese media, the Japan Finals of “GT Academy by Nissan x PlayStation® 2015” was covered by top Japanese media including NHK, as well as automotive, racing, and game media. This event was held across two days on Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12. Day 1 was held at the “GRANDRIVE” Nissan Motors test course, where the competitors were tested for physical endurance, media exposure and real cars handling.
It’s been 25 years since the passing of Osamu Tezuka, Japan’s distinguished manga artist who created many masterpieces in his career. And to look back upon these last 25 years, an exhibit for Japanese manga, anime and games which were produced after his passing in 1989 has been opened at the National Art Center in Tokyo (Minato-ku). The exhibit analyzes various works produced during this time from 8 different aspects, including the relationship between different works, society, and technology.
At the GT Academy 2015 Live Event Qualifier held at the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery, many Le Mans cars were on display as the race final of the Le Mans 24 Hours race was happening on the same day. I think the car Gran Turismo players are most familiar with is probably the NISMO GT-R LM, based on the R33 Skyline GT-R?
Many Quick Matches in GT6 are set up to coincide with major racing events in the real world, and this weekend with the Le Mans 24 Hours race is no different. For the occasion, we have added the GT-R LM Nismo to the list of prototype car series and we have adjusted it according to the Quick Match original BoP (“Balance of Power”, a feature used to adjust the performance in terms of PP). The face off between Nissan, Toyota and Audi will start in the world of Gran Turismo 6.
The race final of the Legendary LeMans 24 Hour Race begins on Saturday June 13th. But ahead of the real life LeMans, the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo will be delivered to Gran Turismo users! The car will be awarded to those who have completed driving the GT Academy Online Qualifier Event Round 4. Test drive the newest Hybrid front wheel drive racing machine, built by Nissan who have continued to challenge the LeMans in unusual machines like the Delta Wing and ZEOD RC!
The Nürburgring 24 hour race opened for the 43rd time this year, but there was a major change that may be a turning point in its long history on the Nordschleife; on the track that is often referred to as the most dangerous circuit in the world.
Fully aware of the dangers involved, the organizers of the event investigate and take appropriate safety measures immediately when there is a major accident.
