Gran Turismo players, Happy New Year 2015! Here’s the first piece of news for the new year.
On the show floor of the festival of custom cars opening on Jan. 9, the “Tokyo Auto Salon 2015 with NAPAC”, Juichi Wakisaka, AKA Mr. Super GT (LEXUS TEAM WedsSport BANDOH) will host the Auto Salon Special Night “Super Gran Turismo Competition”.
The final championship round of the e-sports event based in Japan, the “Red Bull 5G”, spans across several genres of games including fighting games, sports games, puzzles, and free games; and the racing division of the event is hosted on Gran Turismo 6. This final event was held on December 21, at the “Akiba Square” in the town of Akihabara in Tokyo, Japan. The Gran Turismo 6 match of the racing category was basically a GT championship competition between eastern and western Japan, with fierce competitors that have emerged from around 9000 participants. Historically Eastern Japan has maintained the lead, with 2 wins in a row in the last 2 years. And the guys who brought victory to the east in the last 2 years, are the top Japanese GT players “YAM” and “Yamadu”. However, things took a turn for the unexpected this year, with both of them dropping out in the regional qualifiers!
December – the holiday season is here, and a new VGT car will be added in the update planned for this month. Seasonal events are also being renewed for the holidays with the year end/new year seasonal events having boosted reward credits that will make it possible to gain up to 10 million credits in total! You’ll definitely want to get the login bonus maxed out before this starts. VGT events will also be held so those who are close to the credit maximum should watch their limit; it’ll be a good opportunity to buy those high priced car’s you’ve been holding off on!
The GPS Visualizer and Data Logger became compatible with the “Nissan Connect NISMO Plus” in the latest update. Driving data can be analyzed from on-vehicle information recorded while driving on a real life circuit. The current list of compatible tracks include the Fuji Speedway, Nürburgring, Mazda Laguna SECA Raceway, and the Willow Springs Raceway.
Gran Turismo 6 has made its evolution to version 1.14 in its last update. A variety of features have been added, but there are things to watch for in addition to the updates; events with reorganized categories and performance adjustments will be added to the Quick Match. This is the BoP (Balance of Performance) race introduced during the WEC 6 Hours of Fuji, and it will make it easier to organize races with more realistic visuals.
In the fall of 2014, a series of international motorsports events were held in Japan; the F1GP and WTCC at the Suzuka circuit, the WEC at the Fuji speedway, and the Moto GP at Twin Ring Motegi. And in Gran Turismo, a large update is planned soon to update the Suzuka Circuit to its 2014 specifications.
The BMW M4 Coupé that was first introduced to the world through Gran Turismo last year (http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/news/00_5667014.html) is planned for inclusion in another version, as a safety car based on the “BMW M4 M Performance Edition”. The base BMW M4 M Performance Edition will also be displayed from November 4th at the festival of custom automotive parts, the SEMA show hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Recently a discussion was held with WEC driver Kazuki Nakajima on the Toyota Motorsports Official website, crossing the real and the virtual worlds. And on October 12, round 5 of the FIA World Endurance Championships was held in Japan at the Fuji 6 Hour Endurance race. On location in the midst of real life motorsports, a special version of Gran Turismo was available to experience.
