The Mid-Field Raceway was added in an update at the end of last month, and we received a lot of great comments about it – thank you all! Of course real tracks are important too, but it’s good to look back on our history sometimes. There were probably lots of players who remembered the license events of the past which involved this track.
Now in the March update, three more VGT cars are unveiled: the LEXUS LF-LC GT “Vision Gran Turismo” and the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo. The Alpine was also presented in a “Race Mode” version, in racing car fashion.
The LEXUS VGT is a realistic design made in the image of a real life racing machine and the car’s power unit uses a hybrid system. It’s also possible to paint the car. It would look great in the Super GT, Nürburgring 24 Hours race or even drifting!
Alpine will be reaching its 60th anniversary in 2016. The car was developed with inspiration taken from the famed WRC car of the 1970’s, the A110, and the more modern open prototype A450 designs. But the car doesn’t just pay homage to the past, it’s a futuristic design with bold, high-tech air brakes. There are also three special racing suits that go with the car.
Then there’s the time trials for the cars; Lexus is on its home course, at the Fuji Speedway. Alpine will be driving on the Mid-Field and the “Circuito di Roma” course. The events will run from March 18 to April 15, and the results can be viewed for a week after the completion of the events. Recently, there have been many things that brings back the past in Gran Turismo. The VGT cars added in this update is another element that connects the past and future of auto manufacturers.
