At the GT Academy 2015 Live Event Qualifier held at the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery, many Le Mans cars were on display as the race final of the Le Mans 24 Hours race was happening on the same day. I think the car Gran Turismo players are most familiar with is probably the NISMO GT-R LM, based on the R33 Skyline GT-R?
On that day, the McLaren F1 GTR, Ferrari F40LM, Lister Storm, Viper GTS-R, Venturi 500LM and other cars were battling it out on the track. A public viewing of the race was organised at the venue, where top players of Japan also gathered to participate in the qualifiers, under the vigilant eye of the Nissan R391 that raced in the Le Mans 24 Hours race of 1999.
Though the venue is located in Yokohama, there were many challengers even from the western Kansai area. It might be hard to imagine how far this is if you don’t live in Japan, but that’s roughly 500km, equal to the distance from London to Paris!
The series of Live Event qualifiers that started at the Fuji Speedway on May 2nd, ends here on this day.
The player CALSONIC, the first who secured his place in the Japan Finals at the event at the Fuji Speedway, was also present; and while he motivated his rivals, he seemed interested in their driving as well.
MASARU, who had failed to advance to the Japan Finals in the last two Live Events, set his best lap with 1 hour left, securing his spot to the Japan Finals. Orion0116, who also did not make it during the last event, put in a great performance and established the fastest lap time at this qualifiers.
The Online Qualifiers that started on April 21 also ended as of June 16. It was a dramatic end, with the top position being updated until the very last minute of the event!
4 players from Live Events and the top 16 players from the online qualifiers will fight at the Japan Finals for a spot at the International Race Camp. The showdown is set for Saturday and Sunday July 11-12: who will turn out as Japan’s fastest driver?!
